Hi all!

I have jsut ordered some inlet and exhaust gaskets for my 1.8 silver top zetec and the guy who sold them told me that I needed to block off the link passages between ports on the inlet gasket as I am not using the original manifold. Thought I'd best check before I pay the man the money........

Is this true and if so how do I go about doing it? If it helps I am using a fenspeed manifold (cast stub manifold)

The small sandwich plate for the injectors has injector holes and some porting on the back of it. I blocked mine off with some of that Expoy Putty you get in B&Q i'ts like 2 sticks of Greyish Blutack you mix together and it goes as hard as hell.

So you blocked the holes in the sandwich plate not the gasket yeah?

I am not using the sandwich plate but just a simple manifold (with gsxr TBs) which has a flat surface on the engine side. So do I not need to worry about this blocking off business then?

I think you need to get gaskets without the link between them, or much cheaper get a sheet of gasket paper and make your own.

the standard manifold face is flat, the gasket has links between ports i believe for the connection of the crank case breather system which goes into the standard manifold sandwich plate, if you are not using this then see no reason why you cant use a basic flat gasket

There's some pictures of my setup on my website (link on www below). It's very similar and I just cut my own gasket out of gasket paper. 2 years and 7000 miles on, no problems whatsoever.
