Capri bell housing

Is the bellhousing from a 2.0 ford capri type 9 the same as a 2.0 sierra type 9?

Maybe - as long as its not a Mk2 Capri (IIRC) which has the side-linkage gearbox... http://burtonpower.com/technical_1/type_f_gearbox.aspx

Were they not the same engine on the 2.0 sierra as the 2.0 capri?

I thought the capri boxes had cast one piece bell-housings not bolt-on/off like type 9 on sierras etc...

...probably wrong!!!

The Mk2 2.0 Capri had this "oddball" box for some reason (unlike the Cortinas and Granadas of the same era), but it was also used in Transits where there was a side mounted shifter (i.e. no link rods).

Heaven knows why...but I think it was based on a column shift box...Taunus?

Oh - and reverse is next to 2nd gear on that box.

I think the 1300 Capris had the integral bellhousing box (as pre the Escort), but not sure on the OHC 1600's...think that would have been whatever the Cortina had.

They went to the Type N/9 when the Sierra came out (1982).
