Pinto Flywheel onto a zetec.
The Baron - 3/8/09 at 06:44 AM

As per title really,

I am going to do a pinto to Zetec transplant over the winter, I was wondering if my pinto flywheel would fit onto my silver top Zetec, as this would mean that I could re-use the clutch & starter motor & lightened flywheel.

Cheers in advance,

Its common to redrill the zetec flywheel for the pinto 7 1/2" clutch.

The cvh flywheel will fit by drilling out the bolt holes by 1/2mm but that means running a trigger wheel.

Offer it up to the engine and have a look.

Nope, that ideas doesnt work, the bolt pitching on the crank is different.

Nice Try

As mentioned...the Zetec will have VR sensor that you will need to run the ignition....This takes it's trigger from the flywheel that has drill outs in the back.....

Get down the scrap yard and get a 1.8 flywheel which are lighter then the 2ltr...Should cost you around 20 quid....

i fitted a 1.8 zetec flywheel to my pinto
got a 2.0 pinto clutch cover and plate 215mm dia
gave it to a machine shop near me they redrilled the flywheel and balanced it for bout £80ish - you get the lighter flywheel with a pinto clutch then - pinto clutches are cheap as chips and with plenty of future scope for upgrades
if you use the zetec flywheel it moves the ring gear closer to the engine
try using starter motor
QH LRS 707 i found works with this set up - has a narrow body too if you need to use cast sumps which might get in the way
