
Hahaha just finished the 5 speed conversion - took about 5 days of grafting and swearing but I finally got there!!
First impressions are that the 4 speed type 2 seems way "nippier" than the 5 speed, doesn't seam as fast off the line now - probably
due to the extra weight! The plus side is that i just did 110 down the my private motorway at 5.5k!! I think I was doing 60 at 5.5k before!

what diff are you using? mine is off an auto, which may compensate for the taller 1st gear in the type9.
I think it is something like a 3.62
