As mentioned already i'm having issues with my sump being too low. I have an MK shortened sump but i still only have about 60mm to 70mm ground
clearance. Now, i have changed the gearbox mountings which has given me about 10mm and i'm putting shims under the engine mountings to lift
another 5-10mm depending on bonnet clearance.
So my main question is i want to mod my sump further as the front edge is still too low and the whole sump slopes towards the front. The rear at the
bell housing is fine. However i am nervous if i have made a mistake with my design! would you lot be able to have a look at these pics and tell me
what you think and is there anything i should consider?
The pictures show
a white dotted line which is where i would like to chop off part of the sump
an extra 1" of depth around the front of the sump
a box on the side which is the same as the one on this site except 140mm long and not 120mm HERE
The extra bits to be welded on are to make up the capacity lost.
I will then also be putting a proper sump guard on underneath when this is all done!
The other thing is i don't have a welder! if i take the sump "as is" with the cardboard parts on it with some rough measurements would
this be enough for someone to be able to weld it? I'm thinking off taking it to Bogg Bros to do, haven't called them yet so not sure if they
will or not yet.
Plus seeing as i am going to get someone to weld it i thought putting in a baffle at this point would be a good idea
I've seen a few baffles like this so i'm pretty happy with that.
Let me know what you all think
Ineed to get back from this to as in my avatar as soon as possible!! I miss driving it!!

There is some information on moding a pinto sump on the tinterweb, i have followed the directions and all seems ok.
I have 3 mm plate on the bottom of the sump so if needs might take a bump?
I will have a look for you ,where it is to be found on the web.
Might even be apost on here about it somewhere.
thanks johhny5.
Anybody any opinions? only one reply!! - must be a first for locostbuilders!!
you side lobe looks too deep... cant see any need to go above normal oil level on a pinto ? which i believe is about 3 1/2" from the bottom of
the block ?
(well it is on mine)
thanks dave, your right, i'll change that, anyone else?
dont know if you have one, the current Haynes locost book has an article on pinto sump building.
Have a look at the Haynes forum aswell.
