Pinto compression ratio
snapper - 14/8/09 at 08:19 PM

The build of my bottom end is progressing and I have been researching compression ratio's and cam timing.
Dynamic compression ratio and cam inlet closing times.
I have now come to the conclusion that i am never going to find the definitive answer to the right Dynamic Compression ratio for 95, 97, 98 octane with or without octane booster.
The head that i have got will give about 11.2 to 1 down to 10.3 to 1 (Static) depending on the available gasket thickness.
I have 3 cams available
KCFR 32 (285, 2000 to 6500)
KCRL 2 (305, 2500 to 7000 )
KCRL22 (312, 3000 to 7750)

now what i would like to know is what compression you are running with what cam and who needs above 95 octane, with this info i should be able to compile a rough matrix of compression ratio and cam to octane requirement.

my Pinto used to run about 11.5:1 with a FR33 cam - it hated everything but Optimax or V-power as it is now.

i run fr32 cam in a 2.1 pinto and i just use normal unleaded, still goes like poo!

omega is your 2.1 running standard compression ratio?
