Oil cooler & temp. sender?
Charlie_Zetec - 24/8/09 at 09:20 PM

Got my new digidash from ETB Instruments the other day, and starting to plumb it all in. I've got all the engine sensors on my Zetec bar one; the oil temperature.

I've got a thread adaptor and was just wondering, as per the recomendations from the instruction wiring diagram, would it work effectively in place of the sump plug?

I've got 2 UJ's in my steering column, and as such have a small oil filter as it's a touch tight on room, so I think a sandwich plate is too big. But I was also thinking, do I need an oil cooler due to the shortened sump?

I'm sure I can combine the two somehow - was thinking along the lines of an oil filter relocation kit plumbed into the block, with the oil cooler on one of the take-offs, and the temp sender screwed into it somewhere?

Thoughts, all? Any pictures of installs comprising of any of the above suggestions would be interesting to see...

pretty much what I have done
remote filter take off on block
plumbed to remote head with a sandwich plate take off for oil temp and pressure then to filter and then back to block via cooler (better to filter hot oil from what I gather?)

I'm sure I have some pics somewhere??
Will post when I find them

Remote filter and take off and sandwich plate not visible in this shot though..
sure I have some closeups showing it
Will keep on looking

Unfortunately the car is engineless and pretty much stripped for a pre winter re-build ...no garage so making hay whilst sun shines :-)
