2 days to clean engine bay
55ant - 25/8/09 at 02:38 PM

hi all, well next week i have 2 days to clean up the car. i have a few issues to deal with including a bad earthing and some leaks here and there.

but basicaly the engine bay is looking pretty shoddy so im thinking of smartening it up a little. Unfortnately i have little access to garage and no crane so its all going to be an in situ job.

Firstly any advice for this job is more than welcome, also how can i sort out this carb issue of no choke/filter, wouldnt mind keeping it if i can get a choke and filter and then cut a hole in the bonnet? any other bits and bobs to tidy it up would be cool to, just sold some stuff on the bay for £80 so have a few pennies to use up.

cheers all!

the bit where the choke flaps go looks like its been ground off. don't think you'll get a choke to go on there now...

definitely get the filter sorted for it. you will most likely need to cut a hole in the bonnet, but you should be able to get an ok looking pancake filter for now. maybe think about a bike carb conversion later

edit: something like this?

as for the choke, a few presses on the throttle (3 i think normally does it) before starting, then keep a bit of throttle on til it warms up before driving anywhere

You shouldn't need a choke with that DGAS on a Pinto, just tidy the top of the carb up and put a filter on....

I've a DGAS in one peice if you want to replace it....
