Just reading up on megajolt and I see you have the option to run a TPS controlled system or vacuum (MAP) controlled.

Is there any benefit (other than practicalities of building incorporating either) to one over the other?

We've got ZX9R carbs, do they come with TPS?

If we have no TPS then I'd probably sway toward MAP as I'm making the manifold anyway so it would be no great hardship to include a take-off in each header.

I'd have thought MAP would be better anyway?

On another note, are the EDIS modules pretty robust - ie is a 2nd hand one going to be reliable or are they prone to failure? In which case shelling out for a new item would be the way to go?

do carbs have vac pipes to run a map sensor from? (My R1 Carbs Didn't)

Probably not but I'd be taking it off the manifold headers anyway, into a collector and then to the MAP input of the MJ.

Older ZX9 carbs don't have them but newer ones do. Don't know the year it change btw.

New TB's tend to have both...

if you've got some pics of your carbs we should be able to tell you what you've got



you can use a MAP sensor with multiple carbs, but you could struggle to get a nice clean signal for the ECU, as inlet manifold/carb for each cylinder is separate and therefore the pressure will ‘pulse’ – on a setup with a single carb the pressure in the manifold will average out between all the cylinders
(I've been told that you'd need to run a vac pipes from each cylinder and join them together into a larger chamber, then connect that to the MAP sensor to get it to settle down)

so basically a TPS setup should be easier
even if your carbs don’t have one you could always fit one like this linky (half way down the page)

you can see the cable for the TPS hanging out the left side of the pics (3 wires)
the TPS itself is the little black plastic thing on the end of the spindle
