I think i know the answer to this one but thought it was worth a try.
I cant seem to find anywhere to fit my oil cooler without it getting in the way of brake pipes, coolant hoses or the bottom wishbones
Is there any chance the engine would be fine if i just joined the pipes with a u bend and didnt use a cooler?
Track work and long distance driving/towing ideally needs a cooler, but general driving doesn't.
I say join the pipes and at least you can add one in the future if its desperate.
In the UK for 98% of the year oil coolers tend not to be required --- bigest problem is usually getting the oil up to temperature.
I had one fitted to mine with a thermostat. i decided to remove it as it was blocking the rad - to my suprise the oil in there was the fresh oil I had primed it with 3 months earlier lol.
I take it thats for the AJ6 engine your using
If it is you need
1 x EBC4124 Bypass
2 x EBC4244 Connectors
4 x CAC5118 O rings
1 x JZC100005J Stud (some cars don't need it)
All available from Jaguar and not that expensive and makes a neat job
The AJ16 didn't have an oil cooler so thay made up this bypass, we have fitted a lot over the years to AJ6 engines
