Rover T16 water pump
Trev Borg - 3/9/09 at 09:50 PM

I have recently aquired a T16 engine to somehow graft into my MGF.

Having a look at the engine, the water pump is integral to the PAS pump, which I wanted to lose.

One option suggested was to fit an earlier engine pump to the front of the block, but this spot is filled with an engine mount.

Can anyone think of a pump that can be used to fit the side, that does not have a PAS pump integral to it?

or can i just gut the pas pump?

It would be better if i could get a closer fitting pump, ot I might have to hack the bulkhead out aswell

Yep, I want to do the same with mine as the pump bracket is HUGE!..

Marina water pump as I want to go RWD but to retain the front engine mount I reckon an external electric pump is the way to go.

There is a block that has started fitting one in a metro, that has the same problem.

Not sure i understandhis way rounf it though.

think he fitting an electric pump

I'll take a pas/water pump to work next week and build a water only pump. All you had to do was ask....

ive done this one! , what i used was an early m series water pump housing and pump, then fit an aditional idler pulley and use early M series cambelt (longer) now timing belt runs cams and water pump. All you need to do then is to stick core plug in origonal water pump inlet. Theres plenty of tapped holes in each side of block to make engine mounts from.

I don't need to ask. You are the small person sitting on my shoulder remember.

looks like the pas pump will unbolt from the water pump, but then how do i attched the rubber band.

Also, does the auxillary pully look a little close to the subframe in those pictures?

will I be able to get a rubber ban round it ?

I know its a thread revival but I've used an O Series water pump on my T series

My car is a Maestro btw

The mounting holes in the pump need drilling out to 10mm and you can't fit the cam belt covers

You also need the pump pully from a 2.0L Montego/Maestro, alternator braket and cam belt tensioner

The pump goes where the orange engine mount is in your first picture, I've used a modifed Montego engine mount which bolts to the back of the engine block
