quick question

does the duratec engine bolt straight to the type 9 bell housing or does an adapter plate need to be fitted?

I think it uses the mazda bolt pattern, so you need an adaptor plate.

Special Bellhousing is needed, its a different bolt pattern.

Not compatible with standard flywheel. Needs Ford Duratec lightweight Steel Flywheel - 8 1/2" or Ford Duratec lightweight Steel Flywheel - 7 1/4" Race Clutch Plate.

another £200

not a million miles away from the cost of my XE install if I worked up the courage to add it all up , probably somewhere around the £350 mark if you include the 3 sets of engine mounts and modded sump.

Or you can do what I did. You still need a bellhousing though.

Use a std flywheel from a 1.8 (theres a pic of the part number in the duratec build thread) - I think it might be from a 1.8 zetec rather than a duratec. But check it out for yourself.

Then you need a friction plate from a 1.6 mondeo (same as used in rwd zetec conversions) and either the std mondeo pressure plate or you can use an uprated one as fitted to the RS turbo/XR3i.

The only thing then is the set up height of the clutch will be a bit odd and you will need a spacer making to fit the clutch cylinder.

Thats not a standard zetec fly' as there are no timing holes on the back.

It does look like the cvh 1.8 fly' .
