Airbox and rampipe design

Been fiddling with the intake side of things for last few days, and ive got my throttle bodies mounted now (vx engine, blackbird bodies). My question is what filter options are available? The bike ram pipes at the mo are about 2" clear of the bonnet. I dont particularly want to cut through the bonnet so i was initially thinking of individual push on "sock?" filters but i dont know if there available. My other option is an airbox but this would have to sit only about an inch clear of the ram pipes. Can you get shorter ram pipes or is an inch enough? And should they all be the same length as the middle ones ar longer. Sorry to ask loads of questions at once. Thanks

They're standard ITG or PiperX items I think so should be available from most places (Merlin etc)

A properly designed airbox would be much better, something like the ITG sausage filter. Socks filter the air though a very small area (a tenth or less) than a proper filter, so restrictive.
Regarding clearance, from memory you need 40mm from the trumpet. I would get shorter trumpets (cut them down??) and an airbox. However there are always compromises......( I want 90mm long trumpets and an airbox, just not possible )

Filter socks should be the last option, they are a real compromise in terms of airflow.

A sausage filter from Pipercross or ITG can be bought with an undrilled alloy back plate, so it can be cut out to suit your setup.

Are the ram pipes totally necesarry? theyre a moulded thing on these so cant cut them down but without them id easily get a sausage filter in, with them the filter would be almost touching the rampipe at one end,

Ram pipes can significantly improve the airflow, and increase the total induction length which helps move peak torque down. Keep them if possible.

You don't have to have the entire ram pipe contained within the airfilter, many people bond the filter back plate to the ram pipes such that only the end of the ram pipe (i.e. the part with the flare) is actually inside the filter. As long as the filter is supported adequately this is fine.

If i could just get shorter ram pipes ive found a filter that fits now. Anybody know where i might get them? Or tips how to make them??
