Type E vs type 9 Gearbox
thepest - 18/10/09 at 09:54 AM

I would like to install a type 9 gearbox to have a 5th gear on my locost. I presently run the type e:

Its a nice box with quaife close ratio straight cut gears but it does top out early. Would anyone know if I could use the gears I have on the type E with the type 9?

You want a new diff not a gearbox. The ratios you have now will be far superior to the type 9 and you'll only gain a little from the fifth gear over the 1:1 4th gear.

BGH will do you a type 9 with the same ratios if you have no luck.

or quaife gear kit for a type 9 box. sell your rocket box to help fund it. i know some lads who would be interested in a quaife rocket box....

Thanks Guys, I'll look for diff's...... other than quaife, can you recomend others that do diffs?
I think a 3.7 would be the highest I can go on an english axle.
