Hi all....been quoted approx £125 +VAT to remove donut from my prop, add universal joint and type 9 shaft, make to required length & balancing.
Company is local to me so no delivery charges....good value or not as I've no idea on costs for this sort of work?
Thanks,
Matt
Give Propshaft Services, Feltham 0208 8442265 a ring for price comp.
Their service was excellent and prices v. competitive when they replaced a UJ on mine with a bigger one.
Cheers, Pewe
Yep, thats good value in my book.
Sounds good to me as well, mine cost about that a couple years ago. Peace of mind.
flip side it that you could get a new one made for similar money, recoprop etc etc etc worth a ring...........
just had my prop done on monday at propshaft services ,gateshead , cost me £90 , dropped of at 10am ,picked up at 4pm well worth the money.
Just got mine from D&F leeds, dropped old Mk 2 Escort one off and they made a new one for around the same price as you have been quoted.
Also before you do - some issues i had:
i had 2 lying about along with 2 live axles - they looked identical but diff flanges were different sizes ---and we fitted one axle to the car and
took 1 of the props as a template for the new one (Type9 4sp splines etc..) and it led to a lot of head scratching, as we got them mixed up.
but luckily the diff flanges are interchangeable and new prop fitted!
paid £130 for a 300bhp rated prop from D&F
