Changing from webers to bike carbs...?
prawnabie - 22/10/09 at 09:28 PM

Hi all

Im giving my webers one last rolling road session on monday to try and get them sorted. If that doesn't bear fruits, i will be changing to bike carbs over the winter months!!

If I do end up going down this route, what you you recommend bike carb wise for a 1700 135 bhp crossflow??

I would ideally like them to be re-spaceable and easy to re-jet. TPS doesn't worry me as i have a 2D ignition solution already.

Thanks

Shaun

I know I know!

My car pulls like a train when flat out - but the progression when accelerating is all over the place at the moment!!

I run my bike carbs with a good old dizzy (zzr1100) and it pulls like a train from 850rpm ALL the way to 6000rpm (which is as high as i want to rev it!!!) Bike carbs are the way forward, (bike engines are not ) they need very little attention once set up too which is always a bonus. I got mine from Bogg Bros, they rejetted them on the spot when i had a rolling road session with them.

I took inspiration from David Jenkins on here and used CBR600FX carbs. I picked them up for £25, made the inlet myself with a little help from shorttrack and had them jetted on Boggs RR.
David's web site shows you how;
Look under bike carbs

Yeah last monday I got 144bhp, but it is undrivable at midrange throttle openings so Id settle for less at the moment!!

ZX6R carbs are cheap, easy to respace and have adjustable needles so would be a good choice.
