Sausage Filters and Rain?
cloudy - 23/10/09 at 01:08 PM

The original R1 airbox is putting the induction noise 3 inches from my left ear - Is having a sausage filter exposed to rain a complete no-no? Has anyone experimented with turning or ducting a 5VY stock airbox?

i think rain is fine. just don't go throwing buckets of water at it

What a bout one if those pipercriss induction boxes that are often ducted to the nose cone.... Maximillian on here was selling one. Awhile back not cheap but might be he right thing forthe job.

When I had the Pinto and mahoosive foam filter poking through the bonnet it was the only proper cleaning the element got was when it rained

Enjoy the free water injection and super cooled air on the wet /damp days :-)

Filter material seemed very stable considering the UV/water/snow/heat it endured

Since going zetec its hidden under a scoop in the bonnet with forward facing vent, but I really fancy going back to the poking through the bonnet style to keep intake temps down as I'm not convinced its picking up moving air

Rob
