Another Duratec Q
scootz - 23/10/09 at 01:28 PM

What's this...

Doofus - 23/10/09 at 01:30 PM

Crank case breather

scootz - 23/10/09 at 01:43 PM

Doh!

Cheers!

Doofus - 23/10/09 at 01:50 PM

I blocked that off on my old engine and just ran a filter on the rocker cover.
Never used a drop of oil

I suspect the best solution is to run them both into a catch tank.

Yep block breather, as doofus says run both to a catch tank.

If dry sumping you need to block the block breather off.

Cheers... been looking at your Duratec thread Flak - there's quite a few differences between my engine and yours (sump shape, EGR port location, PS pump location, etc.)

Mine came from an 06 ST150 - what car was yours in?

hi scootz, i just saw the picture and new you had a newer engine than mine as you beather pipe outlet is bigger.

my duratec came form a 2001 mondeo.

Phew... I was starting to think I'd bought a Duratec badged Zetec!

flak monkey - 23/10/09 at 03:44 PM

Yeah st150 and mondeo engines are slightly different.

If you have the st150 engine you should also have the solid flywheel which will take a 220mm zetec/cvh clutch

scootz - 23/10/09 at 03:49 PM

What's the benefit of changing out the original clutch for the Zetec / CVH one?

flak monkey - 23/10/09 at 03:56 PM

Splines are different IIRC

The OE one will be a 20mmx17 spline i should think as this is what most of the current ford boxes are.

The T9 is a 1" x 23 spline input shaft so needs the appropriate friction plate.

If the pressure plate is good then you only need to change the friction plate.

Perfecto!

Thanks!
