bike carbs - can you go too big?

Like with 40's/45's do you start to loose driveability with a big set of carbs?

ie the norm seems to be 36mm ish on a 1.6-2.0 with a bit of a crossover to 40mm for 2.0 up?

what would be the detriment to me sticking 40mm ZX9R's on a 1600 CVH? I'm thinking of doing this to my XR2 TT (turbo technics).

I wondered if the extra capacity might help with it being a turbo too.

9R Carbs are CV's, the venturi effectively varies with engine load, so the effect of too big a carb is not so noticable. On my zetec 1.8, 38mm or 40mm carbs, made no difference.

You should be ok with those on a 1.6.

dont know about depremental being to big but would thought un-neccesary if being pressurised via turbo'ed, think there are issues though on setup for bike carbs and turbos with ballancing pressures??
