tomgregory2000 - 21/11/09 at 10:28 AM

Ive been looking but i cant find what im after.

What i want is some info on what size of core i need to cope with the amount of power/boost pressue/airflow i am looking to produce.

Does anybody know of anything?

Corky Bells pressure charging books are very good and cover this.

Graham A. Bell's book (forced induction tuning) is also useful here.

Basically though- go for the biggest you can but you need to try and reduce pressure loss to a minimum so you don't want long tubes, you really want lots of short tubes (to an extent)...

you will generally be restricted on space so just get the biggest you can. Make the pipe work as direct as possible, every 90 degree bend can add 1 psi pressure drop in the system.

What power and boost are you looking at running?

A stock sierra 4x4 intercooler is very good and easy to fit and easily copes with over 300 and 25 psi boost. They are getting a bit old now

I used and so do OMEX/RAW in there kits the standard MR2 turbo intercooler. Big enough to flow at least 270BHP which was what my engine was pruducing. Hangs in front of a polo rad easily and costs about £35 quid from Fensport etc.
