okay need some answers now chaps, im finaly putting stuff back together on the winter projects so i really need to know the following,
1. pinto firing order
2. dizzy direction of rotation
3. where to get coil-dizzy lead for h&h solutions dizzy (differant to pinto - male to female instead of female to female???)
4. any tips for attatching choke and accelerator cable to fireblade carbs.
5. location of idle screws on fireblade carbs
6. is there a tdc mark for the dizzy, i have lined it up as best i can to be firing on a point, do i just use that point as No.1 cylinder?
cheers for any help guys!
my guess is
1= 1342
2=clockwise
3 ?
4 ?
5 ?
6=slot mark on dizzy edge
awsome, cant seem to find tdc on dizzy, maybe not on h&h solutions one? cheers for the 1st 2, can anyone confirm, although thats what i seem to remember them as.
Don't forget to refer to the good old Haynes manual for the basic set ups, it really does get you to the basic settings that will get the enging running.
What i did for a throttle cable was to use a Sierra one as i had a Sierra pedal and bodge the end with a shortened outer cabel and a bolt on
ferule.
similer with the choke cable, generic cable cut to length with a ferule end.
don't use it as a rule.
There are some cable kits on ebay (£24) that have cable, inners, outers, and a shed load of ends and connectors.
My H&H dizzy had the notch. Its very small and on the top edge of the body where the cap sits. If you cannot see it, set to TDC cyl 1 on
compression stroke and align the leading edge of the rotor arm with the post on the cap and that should get you near enough.
Dizzy cap should be female and plugs male, this is standard pinto configuration. I had Halfords leads on mine.
Firing order is 1342
Dizzy rotates clockwise viewed from the top
Use a bike brake cable for the accelerator, the barrel nipple end fits in the carb quadrant.
cheers chaps
Early injection pinto's had a ford (grey cap) distributor and the cap on this had male terminals for the leads to fit onto.
