Long evening with the pinto checking everything again..
After much swapping of plugs and cleaning up unburned fuel she eventually managed to run up on 4 cylinders...
Did a compression check.. reading bang on 13Bar on each cylinder...
For a lightened rebuilt engine with pretty good compression what ignition advance would people be looking for? I have 8 degrees at the moment...
I suspect, that my issue with flooding and lack of power in the engine might be due to the engine vibrations causing the mixture needle to unscrew and
richen the mixture up..... Does this sound feasable? The needle is deffinately not very tight.... easily turned by a gentle poke...
I have a lot more than that, think I've got about 18 at idle going upto about 36, haven't got access to my mj map but think they are what
mine are.
Cheers
Rich
my pinto idles about 14 degrees BTDC at idle
sound like your getting on nicely though, got any pictures or videos
On a standard cam the correct idle adavance is 6-8deg
The only reason to run more is if you have a non standard cam.
there should be a spring under the needle IIRC to stop it from vibrating slack.
