following a thread from a few weeks ago, i think i've worked out my clutch wrong...

as the clutch wears, will the fingers move towards the gearbox or towards the engine?

i've got a brand new sierra clutch plate, and when i worked out the spacers and stuff, i pushed the slave cylinder right up to the fingers, and measured the space between the gearbox mounting and the back of the slave cylinder. 20mm. so i had a spacer made up to 19mm

what thickness should i really have made the spacer to?

i've worked it out wrong haven't i?

Fingers move toward the gearbox as the clutch wears.

You need to allow about 8mm for wear.

Measure up without a driven plate, the slave cylinder should just put the release bearing in full contact with the fingers.

The tricky bit is ensuring that when the clutch pedal is fully down the clutch presure plate isn't getting over stroked.
Not only bad for the clutch but bad for the crankshaft thrust washers.

ooh, they're a bit complicated aren't they? especially when you can't really see them when everythings put together...
i'm thinking a stop behind the pedal would be the easiest way to do that it going too far
