I know i posted about rasing my engine a while back and there was a mixed response but having looked under the car today, im going to have to raise the engine a bit due to how low the sump is.

Does anyone know where i can get some hard rubber to make some spacers i can put in with the (jaguar/landrover) rubber mounts?

If i can get an inch or so, it shouldnt be too back and would mean i can use shorted shock which seem to be easier/cheaper to find on the bay.

I made a 19mm spacer out of steel strip.

Welded together a box and then welded in a diagonal to strengthen it.

You could use plastic cutting board cut to size.

Some cars have large thick washers on the shock absorbers which are about the same diameter as the Land Rover engine mounts, can't remember offhand which cars though. Ideal for use as shims under the mounts and even if you need more shims than the length of the mountings thread it would be possible to use a "tube nut" , a bit like the rocker cover bolts on an old mini but larger to suit the thread on the mounting?

if you are using the circular land rover rubber disc type with plate and M10 studs, beware the studs are relatively short so this will limit teh thcknes of any spacer.

also rubber one will be more compliant - fan cy term meaning your engine will move more, myabe a good thing or bad thing.

if you want rubber, look out on the roads for a discarded mud flap.

easier to use aluminium - can;t see t hat compressing our of shape or stell if it is concern.
