its around £12.50 from ebay you get a cleaner and an oil spray

I had run out of the real stuff, and when I washed out the filter, I just used a drop of 3 in 1, not that I would recommend it, but it seemed to work OK. Cheers Ray

seem to recall thjis being discussed elsewhere and consensus was that the oil is a special waxy stuff specially made for the filters (or may be just K&N blurb to get you to buy their stuff).

for the few quid spent and the few times you need to re-oil the filters, it is not worth the risk in damaging the engine (not that I can see it would even without oil but .... )

I wouldn't bother with the cleaner - use petrol or paraffin poured from the inside of the filter to wash the muck out - tapping the filter helps dislodge the bigger particles.

Petrol will dry quicker, then re-oil with the red stuff and job done.

Just looking at the affinity ATF fluid has to dust -just see how mucky a leaky auto trans gets, I would use ATF Fluid and reduce cleaning intervals just to make sure.
HTH.
