Planning on fitting a catch tank to take returns from crankcase outlet and cam cover outlet on my Zetec. Does the catch tank need to have a
breather/filter fitted?
Cheers,
Matt
Needs to be vented to air, so I'd put a filter on it.. Some old car's dont bother with the catch tank just have a pipe point to the ground..
I have a catch tank and filter to stop rubbish getting into engine (very unlikely IMHO)..

Its worth noting you may not get past any sort of scrutineering on trackdays with a vent to the ground.
Mine is vented to the intake plenum. If you do a google search as well as one on here, there are a LOT of ideas I found invaluable making mine.

The seller is NTDWM but I bought one of these:
Link to eBay
and I think it's really nice for the price (nicer than the pic actually). Most I searched for weren't vented.
Note that scrutineering demands a 1 litre capacity if I am not mistaken.

And I suppose I was mistaken! First time in my life, although I'm told regularly, I have always refused to believe it.
Think you'd probably get away with it on a track day but you wouldn't get past an MSA scrutineer venting to the ground. You should fail an
MOT too, cars have had PCCV for a long time (whether they would check it is a different question, most don't really seem to know much outside
standard build Mondeos, Astras etc)
