HI,

I want to fit a 2nd coolant temp sensor to the BBird engine but as the 2nd sensor is bigger than the original (also using original location for my digidash coolant sensor) its going to be a pain to try and get an adapter to fit both into the original location.

Q. there are 3 pipes from the alloy housing under the throttle bodies one goes forward to the rad and the other 2 head down to the waterpump area. Can i tap into one of these pipes to get a sensible temp reading for the fuel injection?

Any help or suggestions greatfully recieved, been down to think auto thismorning and they were stumped apart from offering an inline hose fitting....

temp senders are varibale resistors - the resistance changes with temperature.

the guages supply power to the sender and respond according to the current drawn.

it is not impossible to make a circuit that senses the voltage on the original sensor and then flow the same aount of current for your other box to use.

I'm not quite sure I understand the question. Is it to fit a sender to run the digidash, or it is to run the megasquirt? Or for something else?

Its to fit an additional sensor for the megasquirt.

I have tried to do a temp vs. resistance for my existing sensor but i'm not confident of its accuracy.

Also the recomended temp sensors are 2 wire with a dedicated earth back to the ECU.

Dont really want to faff about trying to 'share' the sensors, i dont see why i cant add the extra sensor in line with one of the rubber hoses, the question really is which one.......

It depends what temp you want really. Can you tap the ally housing on the engine under the TBs and fit it in there?

That should give a pretty good temp close to that of the water in the block. Or if not, do you have space to fit an inline sender between that ally housing (it houses the thermostat I think) and the water pump?

You could replace the fan temperature switch with a sensor and use megasquirt to control the fan.

In mine I used a VW radiator and that has a temperature switch built in, so the Suzuki fan switch was redundant.

Why the problems with EasyTherm. I know people have reported difficulties, but it worked fine for me (once I had sorted the earthing out).

The other thing is that megasquirt doesn't need precise temperature of water. As long as it knows when it is cold, and when it is up to temperature, the rest are just details. For air it is a bit more complicated.

yes i tapped into the thermostat housing under the throttle bodies for the digi dash and works fine,

any of the 3 hoses you could tap of on though i would have thought,

that would be my recomendation
