evening all,
Can someone give me a quick guide on how to install a set of ARP Head studs when fitting my Duratec head please??
I haven't opened the box yet to look and its down the workshop, thought i can get a run down on here before i go for it 2mo.
Do they come with lube or do i need it?
cheers in advance
this what you are after?

They come with lube
Clean the threads in the head out with an airline
Screw the studs into the head hand tight. If you cant grip them well enough use an allen key in the top to wind them in. Dont do them up tight
though.
Slip the head gasket over the studs.
Lube the thread with ARP assembly lube or moly grease
Slip the head on over the studs
Lube both sides of the washers with assembly lube and slip them over the studs.
Use some grease in a 12point socket to fit the nuts as they are very deep seated in the head.
Torque up in the recommended sequence in 20lbft stages, up to 60lbft.

nice one, cheers david.
is 60lb the max i need to tighten them too? my haynes is down the workshop too..lol
ARP studs have their own torque setting.
Its 60lbft for the head studs, they arent stretch studs so no further tightening required.
There is some debate over whether they should be re-torqued after running in, its a major job on the duratec though as its a cams out job. ts a 50-50
split between people that say you should and shouldnt retorque them though....
oki dokie, cheers dave. will get it all together 2mo
will start at looking at engine mounts next i hope.
cheers again
