ZX6r Carbs. Which air filters?
dan8400 - 18/1/10 at 08:25 AM

I have zx6r carbs for my 1.8 zetec but have no air filter. They are 'Keihin' type carbs. Just wondered what my options are? And are most bike carbs the same?
I like the look of 4 individual filters but one big one would be cool as well.

not saying this is the cheapest place to buy one (always worth shopping around) - ITG filter

4 individual filters eg filter socks said not to flow very well better off with a single sausage filter.

I have zx6r carbs and use a sausage filter which workd well. I used the bike airbox backplate to mount the sausage filte backplate to in order to get a better seal.

You couls also get [expensive] or make an airbox and use a large cone filter.

i think i might make a sausage filter housing and just buy the cotton filtery bit. Will end up being like a k&n sandwich sort of thing i suppose. Unless you can just get filter stuff in sheets?

Thanks
Dan

you can buy Pipercross 3 ply filter media in various sized sheets, as i wanted to keep my air filter inside the bonet i made a air box and had the filter sheet on the top. i will post up some pictures tonight.

cheapest i've found

Haven't purchased mine yet, but spoke with them and the backplate can be pre-cut for bike carbs.

Nice tidy job. Is the filter inside or are you having a cone style one somewhere else?

the top is covered in pipercross filter material.

Hi, just had the same problem and I managed to fit a pipercross one piece filter. I used the thinnest one 40mm. It just touches top of bonnet onleading edge. Works just fine and only £68 inc backplate blank from MNR.
