Anybody on here bolted gti 6 engine on to type 9 etc or other rear drive box

They lean over a lot as standard so are a difficult installation. Would also need a custom bellhousing. Great engine though.

This get's asked about every 6 months (have a search on Pug engines) and the answer is always...anythings possible, but in this case it would need a custom bell housing or adapter plate and the canted installation further complicates things (particularly for RHD cars).

Yes it's a good engine as are the XU5, XU9 and Mi16 all being lighter than the GTI6 engine, but the tried and tested Zetec, Duratec, XE, 4AGE etc are all as good with simpler/cheaper installation and vast amounts of tuning parts readily available.

Don't let it stop you though - I'd love to see some Pug engined cars

The Parkinsons at Shenpar who are Peugeot specialists fitted a Peugeot engine into a Locost and did a few races. Potentially, the car was a winner but plagued with oil surge and the project was abandoned.

This is described on their website and if you contacted them, they'd probably give you all the information you need. Link: http://www.shenpar.com/racehist.php

some of the peugeot engines have a lot of potential. at speed racing in Essex managed to get 450bhp out of a 106gti engine running a custom turbo set-up.

I have a pair of XU9J4's I will be getting shot of.

I think the canted install could simply be overcome with a reprofiled sump and pickup.
