Supplier of 10-9 Bolts & Set screws ?
bodger - 19/1/10 at 04:25 PM

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier for some 10-9 Metric Fine thread bolts & set screws? They are for bolting the prop-shaft to prop-shaft adapter & rear diff. Can't use Ford replacement Bolts cause I need them another 5mm longer to fit my Reverse Spur gear. Namrick don't do 10-9 ( I live around the corner - thank god!).
Most places on the net only supply in bulk quantites.

Have you looked for 12.9 grade bolts?

There might be a wider choice although they'll likely be cap heads (not an issue).

^^^ what he said try 12.9 cap heads (alan key ones)

we use McLean Buchanan & Wilson at work all the time and potters as well

either of them will be able to get what you want

I've been looking out for a similar supplier too - Namrick unfortunately only do 8.8 grade bolts with hex heads. (I'm after hex heads instead of cap heads so I can use lock tabs)

Anyone know if McLean Buchanan & Wilson or Potters will do mail order to non-trade customers? I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what the set up is.

^^ MBW should be just down the road from you

if folk are stuck and/or there is a bit of interest I can get them through my work and post them out

D'oh, I completely forgot - I tried MBW for some nuts and bolts before xmas, but they're trade only unfortunately! :-)

I've just discovered that the OEM prop bolts from a Sierra have a blue coating so I'll try to get them from Ford. Hopefully they can supply caliper bolts too. Thanks for the kind offer, though! :-)

that'll be the thread lock

I should have a spare set somewhere - if I can find them....(my dax prop came with new cap heads)

What about namrick and use a 12.9 as this will be stronger than a 10.9

Someone will be along to say "stronger" is not the right description and say
"Actually it is Tensile strenght which is ..... Blah Blah Blah"
