Just a quick bit of related advice, try not to get the very early box as it only has a single syncro between 1st and 2nd. Blipping the throttle to smooth out the change is very rewarding mind you.
I had to cut some alloy off my MK1 MX5 gearbox
There's a really big 'chunk' on the tail end of the gearbox which takes two very long M10'ish bolts that attach the gearbox
directly to the X-frame chassis.
I cut this ALL off to get it into the transmission tunnel on my Stuart Taylor chassis. It's still quite tight - less than 10mm clearance in
place. It's caused no problems so far and I've done about 7000 miles since completing the car.
thanks all, once i get soem time off work, i will messure up and see if the engine and box will fit.
