Went to get a few bits for the Blackbird engine yesterday...... went to the Honda bike dealer (first mistake!).

Just wanted a couple of o rings for the thermostat housing as i'd removed it to add another temp sensor into it, also thought i'd replace the thermostat at the same time.

O rings were as you would expect at a pound or so but the thermostat was.......

.......... wait for it..........

....... £44

What a rip off, needless to say i declined this after picking myself up off the floor.

off to halfords or local mfactor to see if they do bike thermostats......

Try pricing one up for a diesel engined Grand Voyager £125 plus vat

Bike part prices always amazed me... availability and lead times amazed me even more!

just bought one for the bluebird from nissan and that cost £25, may seem mental but the one I got from halfords was pish and was rubbish quality and wasn't even opening at the right temp and freezing my ass off in the car. So I've got no complaints in buying a proper one from the dealer.

Try euro car parts - they do 'cheap' through to OEM bits & should be a bit cheaper. You may struggle finding one up north but they do mail order.

I feel your pain. You might want to call an ambulance if you ever need a set of piston rings.

It's worth looking at importing from the states. Did that with a crank pulley and it worked out cheaper even after paying duty etc etc.

Stuff usually arrives quickly too.

I used BikeBandit (mostly cos they have nice only exploded diagrams so you can find what you need).
