I have chopped the bottom off the zetec sump and had it alloy welded - How much off the bottom should the sump pickup pipe sit?

i'm just working on a mates chopped zetec at the mo, as a roungh measure he is running around 5 mm from the bottom.

i measured it by sticking bluetac on the sump pan and then fitting it and measuring the indentation on the bluetac.
