just paid £45 to have 25thou skimmed of a zetec head, would say if just a mating surface on a manifold may not need to be done on a head skimmer may be cheeper if none with general machine shop milling machine, how bad is it?

Its not bad, I filed it canny flat but its not enough, can't be bothered with the file, would rather have it done properly.

He did say f*** me not another one when i walked in the door.

Been to the local machine shop (Bob) and after much sucking through teeth and words like, nightmare, too thin, deflection, clamping etc, he considered options...

1. Silicone gasket, make a bead round each port, allow to dry and try that...

2. If the silicone fails, he will machine me grooves round the ports to take O rings.

Bob owns a rally spec Subaru and reckons the engine and box have more silicone for gaskets than actual gaskets (head excluded of course).

So, here we go
