zetec to replace 1800cvh, conformation of parts needed

hi, getting ready to replace 1800cvh with 2l zetec, need conformation of parts, thanks, doing it realy lowcost,
cvh sump - allready modded to suit locost.
cvh flywheel (zetec has auto flywheel).
cvh clutch.
cvh pressure plate,
cvh front pulley for esc ignition.
spigot shaft bearing - pinto.
cvh starter.
cbr600 bike carbs with inlet manifold ( may have some cbr1000 comming).
cvh exhaust manifold.
diy engine mounts,
have i missed anything, got anything wrong, thanks for your input.

I used a CVH exhaust manifold on my Zetec with a new flange (from Shorttrack on here and eBay) welded on
Port spacings are as close enough to port with a dremel and carbide bit, but holes for studs that hold it to the head are completely different

List looks pretty comprehensive bar inlet and exhaust gaskets new set of flywheel bolts and an alternator bracket

The rubber sump gasket seems pretty re usable from the CVH setup
(mine has been re used at least 3 times so far!)

cvh sump on a black top is harder than the silver top.

Bearing caps are 20mm lower. You would need 4 main cap bolts from a silver top and four 20mm spacers. The pick up pipe has less clearance on the oil pump aswell.

Cvh pulley will fit the zetec but you will need spacers for the water pump and alternator again harder on the black top.

The crank sensor housing on the auto is differant on the auto. If you get a zetec manual fly' you would need the matching housing.

thanks for info forgot about gaskets, its a silver top zetec, so should work ok,
can i not weld the cvh 36 tooth wheel to the zetec front pulley and make a brkt for the pick up sencor? will not need spacers for pump and allternator then, will make alternator brkt,

That all sounds like a bit of a ball-ache compared with just using a Zetec flywheel which does away with the need for a trigger wheel and sensor bracket to me

That's what I did. Took about 10 mins to weld on and works great. I spaced the trigger wheel off the pulley slightly to allow the pick up to 'cover' the teeth fully.

In fact using the CVH flywheel / clutch etc is a great Zetec upgrade is it is miles lighter than the 1.8 Zetec Flywheel.

My setup is the same as yours except I have a Blacktop Zetec, and mine was converted from a 1.8CVH.

Have a look at some of my recent threads too. As im thinking of going from my cvh (1600 block) to a zetec also and have been figuring out whats needed as well as weather to go 1.8/2.0 or silver/black.

Come to the conclusion its got to be the 2l i think, but silvertop is easier and probably as good.

Any particular reason why the silvertop is easier? I would have thought the Blacktop was easier, as the sump is steel and can be easily chopped.

Thanks for the advise etc, good to see others had done it locost stye, whitestu, thanks for conformation of cvh 36 tooth wheel, i am using cvh sump as i allready have it on my cvh, saves modding another one, allthough extra holes to add to zetec to suit, what ignition are you guys using, i am going to use esc to start with, ?? how do i get around vacum pipe using bike carbs. thanks andy

Im using a megajolt with tps.

Before this the cvh was running on its dissy which took a pressure tapping from each of the inlet tracts within the manifold which where tee'ed together (4-2-1) and piped to the dissy. No plenum as such although that would clearly be better. See instructions for using a megajolt with map on the autosportlabs site.

I'm also using a Megajolt with TPS from the bike carbs. Megajolts work great and are easy to install and set up.

thanks guys, will check out autosports site, im not good with pcs, whitestu been viewing your photos, where did you get your screen frame from ?, how was abingdon airfield, we aim to get over there this year, thanks again.

Its not everyone experience, but i too found the megajolt totally seamless in installation.
- I knocked the loom up in about two hours, droped a base map from another user onto it, and it fired literally first time and has been faultless since. Spindle adapter is the hardest bit, but other than having to pick up an m7 tap from the local engineering place in town to match the dellortos it was under an hours work on the lathe at uni to do a really nice job.

I must say ive since not had it remapped to the car and cannot compare to the cheaper esc method but for £80 of ebay for a built version4 with hard cut rev limiter im very happy with it.

I can then always drop to limp-home mode on the edis alone if it all goes south.

The screen is a Caterham one. Abingdon was great, except it rained and I got soaked on the way home!
