I'm trying to bolt a Mazda MX5 (NB) gearbox to my little 1.4 k-series engine.
The smallest Mazda friction plate to fit that gearbox is 200mm in diameter, the pressure plate on my engine is only 190mm wide.

After doing some research I found out that the 1.4 and 1.6 use the same flywheel, but the 1.6 has a 200mm clutch. So my question is: Would a 1.6 (200mm) pressure plate fit my 1.4 (190mm) flywheel? I can't really find it online, and after examining the flywheel I can't see where that extra 10mm should go, both flywheels are the same though? Does that include the pins/holes for the clutch?

Another question; is there a store/place where I can buy just the pressure plate? Everybody seems to sell the whole kit, of which I cant use the friction plate and release bearing?

The bigger clutch will fit your flywheel ,the edge around the pressure plate is narrower on the 200mm thats were the extra 10mm comes from .

You must have a very early 1.4 engine, they switched to using 200 mm clutches over 15 years ago.
The clutch pressure plates changed at the same time.
