Hi,

have fitted ZX6 carbs to my Pinto.

Now need to fit a choke cable. As anyone with this set up will know, the choke slider(?) on the carbs needs to be pulled towards the front of the car.

How have you guys set this up (I assume a bog standard choke cable (of the correct length be Ok) particularly interested in what is required to fit the cable to the slider and where you have mounted the lever in the cockpit - piccies would be of great help.

Copied an idea from Chester sports cars, and used the bonnet catch lever on underside of steering wheel.
Only need to keep it held out to start, and then for a about 1 minute and then it runs ok.

hi mate, the zx9r carbs (which I presume are similar) accept a solderless nipple fitting on the end of the choke cable to attach it.

I used a mountain bike brake cable,connected to the sierra bonnet pull lever.the end is secured to the carbs with a £1.50 ferrule from ebay.
It works great.

thanks for the answers lads - just checked & as I suspected, no bonnet pull lever (must have removed it during the build). However, that area seems to be the favourite to mount the lever end which makes sense as the cable can be routed without cutting the scuttle about.

Hi, I have the same set up and bought a choke cable off the bay. Ran it to a position under scuttle. Held in position by an L bracket rivited to metal tube on side. Rather stiff to pull but works a treat.

i use a solid cable and solderless nipple on mine

I used a lawnmower throttle lever as my car's choke control - tucks nicely out of the way when not in use.
