It's a year or so since I fitted mine, but from memory no keyway and I'd guess at M12, maybe M14.

another stupid question...

2mm steel????

cd.thomson - 30/3/10 at 12:19 PM

more like 5mm, you dont want the teeth vibrating at all.

blakep82 - 30/3/10 at 12:50 PM

5mm at least. 2mm will be too wobbly, and too thin to give you a decent signal

better if you can cover the whole end of the sensor

well i can go up to 300mm......

Miks15 - 30/3/10 at 01:50 PM

might be a bit overkill, 250 should stop the wobble

That will double up as a flywheel

mines 5mm i think. works well
well, as far as i can tell, considering my wirings not done, and the sensor wasn't lined up properly

does it have to be mild steel??? not ali??

is it because the sensor works on a magnetic field???

blakep82 - 30/3/10 at 02:59 PM

must be steel. ali won't work. the inside of the sensor is a little magnet
