Duratec 1.8

What can be realistically achieved with a Duratec 1.8 engine? I've still got the 08 1.8 MX5 engine (125bhp in the car) and box lying around and may just bung it into the Quantum as I want it ready for the start of summer.

So assuming a set of TB's and a half-decent cam swap... is 150bhp achievable?

I would have thought 150bhp would be fairly easy with that engine!!

should be, you would get 150 on a 1.8 zetec with out cams.

Yep, and the same tuning parts with fit other than pistons.

The cams will go in, but std pistons may need pocketing as the normal aftermarket ones wont fit (different bore). I reckon you would get at least 150bhp just with throttle bodies.

would it not be cheaper to sell the 1.8 and get a 2.0 then you've got your 150bhp with more to come?

Yup... but no-one wants the 1.8 MX5 engine and 5 speed-box that I have just now, so stuck with it until I find a buyer

Cheapest around (the only other similar package is sitting at £1499 just now ).
