Im trying to run some 50 intercooler pipework on the cheap.
Its for a low pressure setup (<10psi) and shouldnt see any crazy levels of heat.
Im not prepared to use steel or stainless as its heavy, so aluminium is the material of choice.
Straight 16swg alloy tube isnt too dear on ebay, but bends are crazy money and so is silicon.
Does anyone know of any locost suppliers? Places with random parts bins of offcuts? Or rad hose bins that might have 50mm bends?
I probably need:
1x 45 degree
4x90 degree
2x straight couplers
or if anyone knows of cheap alloy bends then those and straight couplers would also do the job
Cheers
would plastic drainage pipe do the trick?
I was also wondering whether 50mm solvent weld plumbing pipe would be up to the job.
Certainly the cheapest and easiest way to do the job if not the best performing/most aesthetic.
interesting thoughts! I worry it would crack the joints if it flexes? Perhaps if I made the straight couplers fairly long?
best option for cheap rubber is to search out a 4x4 breakers - plenty of TD engines therefore a multitude of boost hoses. Thats what I did when turbo'ing my XR2 initially.
