Custom Exhaust
SeanStone - 25/4/10 at 09:04 PM

How much should I expect to pay for a custom exhaust for my S2000 build?

Are there cheaper ways of going about it or is it always an expensive task?

The first quote I got was £1200.

I won't be running a cat

if you go to a company that knows about engines and manufacturing of performance exhausts then that figure is not far off,

I had a quote from Simpsons and they wanted nearly £1500!!

That's well ott. I paid £300 for the exhaust for my Indyblade

Must be very very special for that amount, I purchased some stainless bends from Ebay and made mine for £125 !

That aside I would be looking for a pinto or zetec exhaust and modify that to fit depending on what side the car it exists on, should be around 1/4 of that price.

where are you? I can't see from your profile.

I got a manifold for £400 around here.

Silencer and such is off the shelf item from MK, but you are looking at around £200 for that.

Can you recycle some of the s2000 manifold?

i would keep the original headers and fit a custom exhaust from that point onwards.

Some engines are better off without fiddling with them if you don't know how to do it properly.

the s2000 in original form had a very specifically designed exhaust iirc, they are probably intending on recreating the original item as closely as possible within the confines of your car hence the expense.

I do have the manifold which is attached to the downpipe. It weighs a hell of a lot though

Try contacting Martin Keenan
http://www.mkengineering.co.uk/
I was down there today and have seen some really nice 4-2-1 and 4-1 collectors that he has made, I know he can make a custom manifold for £650 and I think his 5" diameter silencers are £200 or £250. Check out my photo archive i've put some pics of Martins work in there.
