Am i right in thinking Duratecs dont bolt straight up to type 9s?
They will with the right bellhousing.
so that will be a no then

Yeah, its will bolt up as well as zetec. Using a suitable belhousing
- However, unlike a zetec, there is not a oem bell housing that is suitable so you have to go down the route of an after market belhousing. Which
does as to the cost clearly.
Basically, the duratech is a Mazda engine. Hence doesnt use the otherwise fairly standard ford bolt pattern.
Daniel
Would a zetec require an aftermarket bellhousing?
A Zetec will work if using a Sierra bellhousing (pre-89). I've never done this, but understand that one or two of the bolt holes are redundant.
The Zetec, having its roots in the CVH, is the last of the standard ford 4 cylinder bellhousing pattern.
All the newer engines are no longer done to this standard pattern.
Can't imagine that any future Ford engines will be to ye olde traditionale Ford pattern.

No engine will bolt straight onto a Type 9 gearbox... it will need a suitable bellhousing whether it's a pinto, zetec, duratec, etc.
Never seen one of them... every day's a school-day!
I can recommend RWD motorsports bellhousing
pretty sure its cheaper than the above price by quite a bit. Bloke who runs it is a nice chap too, very
helpful.
Talk about making a simple problem even more confusing!

type 9 has seperate bell housing mt75 box is integrall
Rally design do duratec to type 9 bell housings for £168 which seems good value i may go this route in the winter upgrades
It seems my wording confused the matter a little.
What I should have said is 'does the zetec/duratec bolt to a standard type 9 bellhousing.
As for which I do or dont have, the answer is none yet. Im looking at options and the current fave is a blacktop zetec mated to a type 9. Which I
trust means it will mount to a standard type 9 bellhousing.
Do you mean the Sierra Pinto bellhousing when you say 'standard' Type 9 bellhousing?
If so, then the Zetec engine will bolt up to it (couple of bolts won't match, but it's not a problem).
The Duratec engine will not bolt up to it.
