Hi,

hopefully a quick question regarding the Oil Pressure on my Pinto.

The engine is a fully re-conditioned 2.0 litre from Specialised Engines, Grays, Essex. Current mileage is less than 1000.

I have a full set of ETB instruments fitted and the Oil Pressure Guage is calibrated from 0 to 90 psi.

When running, the pressure hits the stop at over 90 psi and this is the same regardless of whether the engine is hot or cold.

There is no evidence of any oil being blown out through breathers and I have not had to top up at all.

I assume that this pressure is not normal and believe that it could be something as simple as an incorrect sensor. Checking the receipt from ETB, the item is identified as 0 to 6 bar. Is this correct?

Are you using the correct oil pressure SENSOR or just the standard oil pressure SWITCH

Might be a good idea to put your location in your profile , someone local to you may have a decent workshop gauge to test the oil pressure before suspecting the engine is at fault. If it is excessive pressure then suspect a sticking/jammed oil pressure relief valve . might be worth getting in touch with the engine company?

Thanks for the replies - been fiddling & its now working fine. No idea what the problem was - all I did was to remove and reverse the connections a couple of times - but now giving a healthy 75ish at idle from cold.
