
Is it possible to cut down the length of a type 9 by removing the rear section and repositioning the gear stick position??
do you mean just the gaerstick position. If so, yes, that can be done. Shortening the box iteself, I think may be rather difficult if not impossible.
Its the output shaft I want to move forward.
Gearstick is OK but moving them both forward would help.
Nothing is impossible if you have the time and skill to do it.
You would need to shorten and sleeve the output shaft and also shorten the tail housing by cutting out a section and rewelding.

There were a few, very rare, Transits with type 9's which had a short tail end, and a flange. You'd be very lucky to find one, but if you
do, that's your answer.
The MT75 Tannys had a drive flange as well.
