engine swap Duratec 2.3 to duratec 25 I-4
HPKWienenergie - 11/6/10 at 11:21 AM

I look into this issue because i want to swap the bloc of the 2.3 to the 2.5 inline 4 cylinder also in the Mazda6 as MZR 2,5.
Heve searched intesively but could not finde any secure info.
Main question: is the 25 block the same as the 2.3 block?

Anyone knows?
Thanks

I can't answer your question, but is it worth it for an extra 78cc?

no... i would have thought a 2.3 caterham would be pretty quick already? upgrade /remap etc would surely be more cost effective/less work

ps where are you from

its exactly 227 cc not really much.
bore is 89 and stroke is 100
what I esxpect with this is a significant in increase in torque in the mid range up to 4-5000 rpm.
I usually drive only up to 4000.
Yes its pretty quick already but...
I am located in Austria http://www.hannsperkober.at/caterham.html

From what I have found so far it should be possible. I only would swap the block with the crank and would need new pistons for the compression approx 12:1 and then a rolling road

If you're replacing the cylinder block and crank etc, just buy a 2.5 engine and sell the 2.3.

Or just drive with the current engine above 4000rpm, why get more power when you don't use what's there already?

Sorry, I'm still not answering your question

OK

but the thing is I want more torque up to 5000 rpm and not above
