I am trying to decide the best way to sort an air filiter and housing for my 2L Pinto. I have 2 carbs to chose from, I think they are the original
type fitted to the sierras, one is a weber and not 100% about the other one. They are twin choke as far as I can tell.
Once fitted to the manifold they sit about 2" below the bonnet so I am goiing to have to put a hole in to allow air filter and housing fitment I
guess.
What do you guys recommend as a best solution? Bike carbs is not an option (unless someone knows a 'free' solution) as funds are
restrictive, as always. Although I may go that route later down the line.
I can post pics later this evening if it would help.
Cheers,
JB
Do you definitely want a housing? If you're going to cut into the bonnet for air flow purposes you'll be drawing in cold air anyway so could just use an itg-style mushroom filter on a suitable back-plate for whichever carb you choose. If you use a weber, merlin motorsport in castle coombe will carry a suitable filter and plate but they aren't cheap!
Going though a simular thing (1800CVH) I think I am going to have a remote filter (making an air-box) so I don't need a bonnet hole..
Simplest approach is a hole in the bonnet and suitable K and N or ITG etc filter...
I like the idea of remote filter and no hole in the bonnet
Anyone got any ideas for making some sort of adaptor to take a remote tube and cone filter?
I'm not blessed with milling/machining tools etc and have very deep pockets and short arms
