KA 1.6 zetec not running right

Anyone have a brilliant ideas with this..

been trying to find the cause of a fault on my sisters KA sport...

When the engine is running there is a deffinate but subtle misfire, the engine doesnt pur as it should, and when you listen to the exhaust you get the odd cough/semi pop(but very quiet)...

Apparently it sometimes boggs down/hesitates when you try and pull away...

The engine light is on..

I have tried replacing the coilpack and HT leads, but this has not helped the issue...

She tells me the problem started after a front end smack she had... the TB and inlet manifold were damaged so had to be replaced...

One garage she spoke to suggested it was a damaged valve... But im not so sure..

Anyone have any brilliant suggestions of what to try next? How would a proper garage find the source of the problem..

(apparently the engine diagnostics just say there is a misfire.....not helpful!)

Its an injector fault. Had the same symptoms on my R26 took ages to find I even had the ECU sent away for testing

I bought two new injectors and swapped them round until fault cleared.

Worth a try I reckon

You can also get them serviced/cleaned here

Hmm...

Is it possible to test injectors?

You can listen to them clicking through a screwdriver - blade on the injector, handle in the ear.

But the issue is usually the spray patten not being correct. So not easy to identify - cleaning or replacement is the only way really

(typing not good tonight)

Oh by the way, my diagnostics said misfire too - caused by the poor spray pattern.

They are not cheap things to replace though...

How does one go about cleaning them? And would that be enough....

Find someone with an ASNU machine , worked on one of my injectors that wasn't working

Could be an air leak on the inlet somewhere.
