Got the LT77 on the bench today. It came with my part built kit car. After hoovering a lot of sawdust (don't ask me it came like that) off it I
tried to select gears.
They all seem fine except reverse which make noises, clicky noises that I feel are wrong. Can some people watch my video I made and tell me what they
think. This is my first build and to be honest, my first gearbox.

By working the input shaft back and forth you may just be hearing backlash noise. Is it noisy when rotated in one direction?
Steve
It sounds different, a slight clocky vibration that the other gears don't have. Seems to me like the gears are very worn and when you place in
reverse and rotate it takes a couple of degrees or rotation to take up slack. All other gears seem fine, except reverse. Can't believe that
reverse is worn. Unless the previous owner when around backwards

My LT77 is a bit notchy to get into reverse, but it doesn't make noises like that when I let the clutch out.
Any one got a LT77 going spare?
I wouldn't condemn it just yet, that sounds like perfectly normal backlash in the gears to me. It's usually more noticeable in reverse
because you introduce a further gear into the train to reverse the direction, hence more backlash.
If it seems reasonably smooth when rotated in one direction only, it's probably ok.
