Hi, I have now a Daihatsu alternator that it fits great and i now know how to wire it to the car. BUT i need a timing belt that is around 870mm long.
i have already tried a 900mm and its to big. Do they make timing belts that small or do i need to cut or weld things, add washers and/or pull my hair
out and struggler with the 900 long belt?

you mean a drive belt. Are you looking for a ribbed belt or v-belt??
The length is usually incorporated into the product code anyway
Hi,
Pretty sure your after a fan belt not a timing belt.
I went to my local motor factors and they sold me a belt of the correct length.
Cheers
Frank
your both right, i mean a fan belt..... Doh.
Frank, what size belt did you get? and its a ribbed belt.

motor factors or even Halfords should have them. the codes run something like 5875 meaning 5 rib, 875mm long and so on.
I think they generally come in 25mm increments.
you could have a look on the gates online cataloge http://www.gates.com
but it'll be easier if you just take the belt you've got to a decent motorrfactor and tell them you want one like that but 870mm long
the 87-91 1.3l Honda civics is 4 rib 875mm long
Subaru Imprezza 93-95 alt is 5 ribbed 875 long
Porsche 928 GTS 91-95 is 6 ribbed 875 long.
One of them must fit
(and many more besides)
thanks all
I'm using a daihatsu alternator too and found a Dayco belt from Camskill who have a good choice. I think mine is 6pk880, the 880 is the length,
6pk means 6 ribs or V's in the belt
